1099 Express is a stand-alone 1099 program which creates laser forms,
performs e-Filing to the IRS, and provides many other features. It requires Microsoft
32 bit Windows,
Version 95 or later. This includes Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows
Server, Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows ME, Windows 98, Windows 95 etc.
However, in order to produce paperless filing and create
PDF files, the program requires a version of Windows after Windows
95, 98 and Me, such as the Windows NT family, Windows 2000, Windows Server,
Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and later versions.
1099 Express will not run under Unix, Linux, Macintosh, or Apple, unless they
are running some type of Windows Emulation software, or have a "Windows Mode".
1099 Express creates its own data files, which are text files ending with the extension .src.
Although 1099 Express resembles Excel, opens and saves files like Excel, imports by Copy and Paste from Excel, it is not part of
Excel and does not require Excel to be installed. 1099 Express does
require that Microsoft Internet Explorer be installed for the Help Manual, for
automatic program activation, and other features.
1099 Express, is a very small, tightly written, integrated package. The download
is under 2 megabytes, and includes all 1097, 1098, 1099 and 5498 series
forms. It all so includes forms 1096, 3921, 3922, 8935, and 1099-K, and W-2G.
This is EVERY form that can be e-Filed at the IRS FIRE site. The program
requires under
3 megabytes of disk space on the user's workstation. When uninstalled, all disk space is returned.
Other requirements are:
- A Windows compatible page or laser printer is required to create 1097,
1098, 1099 and other forms on plain paper.
- An internet connection is required for electronic filing to the IRS.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer must be installed on the computer.
