1095 EXPRESS: Creating XML File(s)

Creating your XML Files for e-Filing to the IRS

Before starting this process, Click the Transmitter Button at the bottom left of the grid. Enter your AIR TCC here, your Tax ID number, and the other information for the Transmitter. Be sure to set the Test File Indicator to P for Production.

Next, you MUST create a new folder for each source file (for each .T95 file).

Be absolutely certain you have a separate folder for each .T95 file. 1095 Express will create TWO XML files (.xml) and ONE Text (.txt) file. The two XML files are:

1. The Forms file. This always the largest size KB.
2. The Manifest file. The word "Manifest" is part of the filename. This file is about 3KB in size.
3. The Text File is called the "Tracking Report". The tracking report will have a place inside the file, near the bottom where you should Paste your Receipt ID, after the IRS initially receives both XML files. You should also print the Receipt ID which is served up by the IRS after uploading your two XML files.

To Create the XML File:

- Click the Options, then "Verify Format", it must say Format Check OK.
- Click the Edit Menu, then "Insert Record ID Numbers". This step is mandatory. It puts record numbers in the RES column. Be sure each number matches the left side line numbers, down to the last line number. This can always be done later when creating a correction file.
- Next Click the Options menu, then "Build IRS XML File - This File.

1095 Express then creates these THREE files in THE SAME DIRECTORY WHERE YOUR SOURCE (.T95 FILE) RESIDES.
